  1. Everyone has the right, for themselves and their family, to an adequate size housing, in conditions of hygiene and comfort and that preserves personal intimacy and family privacy.

  1. In order to combat social exclusion and poverty, the Union recognizes and respects the right to social assistance and housing assistance to ensure a dignified existence for all those who do not have sufficient resources, in accordance with Union law and national laws and practices.

Article 25º

  1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living sufficient to ensure his health and well-being and his family, particularly with regard to food, clothing, accommodation, medical assistance and also the necessary social services, and has the right to security in unemployment, illness, disability, widowhood, old age or other cases of loss of livelihood due to circumstances beyond their control.

INTERNATIONAL PACT OF ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS

Article 11º

1 – The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone to an adequate standard of living for themselves and their families, including adequate food, clothing and housing and a continuous improvement in their living conditions. Signatory States will take appropriate measures to ensure the effectiveness of this right, recognizing for this purpose the essential importance of international cooperation based on free consent.

OPTIONAL PROTOCOL TO THE INTERNATIONAL PACT ON ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS

Article 1º

  1. A State Party to the Covenant that becomes a party to this Protocol recognizes the Committee’s competence to receive and consider communications in accordance with the provisions of this Protocol.
