The Voluntary Return and Reintegration Support Program (ARVoRe VII), of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), aims to ensure that immigrants in need and willing to return voluntarily to their country of origin can do so dignified and safe manner. In Portugal, the program has been implemented since 1997, through a protocol signed with the government. In recent years, the program has been co-financed by the European Union, under the Asylum, Immigration and Integration Fund (FAMI), and by the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF).

The service is provided in an individualized and confidential manner and aims to inform and advise migrants about the option of voluntary assisted return, so that they can make an informed decision about their return. Once enrolled in the program, the migrant will have his/her case analyzed, will be able to request psychosocial support and will be referred to a partner organization specialized in the area. Subsequently, the trip will be booked by the most direct and economical route, and €50 will be made available for expenses during the journey. All candidates are accompanied to the departures area of Lisbon airport by the IOM team.

For eligible cases, reintegration support may be possible. The interested party should contact the team, who will help to elaborate a personalized plan for the reintegration in the country of origin, which will be later analyzed. Eligible cases will be monitored and followed up during the first six months after returning from IOM offices or their partners in the country of origin. Just contact the IOM office in Lisbon.
